Just outside of Alice Springs lies a world of unique rock formations and an oasis of ancient palm trees& Palm Valley, only accessible by 4WD vehicle, offers a unique insight into a landscape that has remained untouched for centuries. Also visit the Aboriginal community of Hermannsburg and view the art works of local artists. A fascinating day out in the Red Center. This one day 4WD Safari departs Alice Springs this morning and travels through the West MacDonnell Ranges to the Aboriginal community of Hermannsburg for a guided tour of the historic precinct and its renowned art collection. Then down the bed of the Finke River, one of the oldest watercourses in the world, into Palm Valley. See spectacular rock forms, white sands and an oasis of rock pools and palm trees. Some plants, such as the cycad and \'Livistona Mariae" (cabbage palm), are known world-wide as relic plants and are unique to Central Australia. Visit the spectacular rock formation known as the Amphitheater. On the return journey, relax and enjoy watching the changing colors of the magnificent West MacDonnell Ranges in the afternoon sunlight. Return to Alice Springs at approximately 6:00pm. |
