Mijas Day Trip from Costa del Sol

On this day trip to the white village of Mijas, you will wander its narrow streets and visit the popular Fuengirola markets. You will also see the most historical site of the village - Virgen de la Pena Chapel.

The delightful white village of Mijas, famous for its donkey-drawn taxis,  sits high atop the mountains with breathtaking views of the Mediterranean and several municipalities of the Costa del Sol below.

Visit the Virgen de la Pena Chapel (sanctuary of the Virgin of the Rock, the local patron saint). Legend has it that some local children discovered the image of the virgin, hidden for several hundred years between the walls of an old castle to prevent it from falling into the hands of the Arabs who ruled the region for eight centuries.

Leaving Mijas, you will head to Fuengirola where you will have free time to shop and explore the local weekly market. Fuengirola has the biggest market on the coast and sells everything from fresh produce to local handicrafts. Many stalls are selling similar wares, so be prepared to haggle and take home some souvenirs to remind of your time in this region.

Gibraltar Shopping Tour

Once you have been picked up from your hotel, the coach will take you on a drive along the coastal road to Gibraltar. The city center is long and narrow, extending along Main Street. Much of this bustling high street has been pedestrianized, with strategically placed benches, pavement cafes, and bars offering welcome relief for weary shoppers.

You will find all the familiar high street shops in Main Street, where everything is sold from the latest designer fashions to what is probably the best known 100 percent cotton underwear in the world! There are also smaller shops including many unique handicraft shops as well as the all-time duty-free favorites including cigarettes, spirits, gold jewelry, watches and perfumes.

You will be accompanied by a guide on the coach who will introduce you to the area and help with any queries you might have. However, when you hit the shops, your time is your own and you will be set free to roam from one retail paradise to the next and shop until you drop, or at least until it is time to board the coach again for the journey back to Costa del Sol.
