Seattle Locks Cruise

You don\'t have to be a shipping enthusiast to be enthralled by the complex workings of the Seattle locks system - originally built to transport coal and timber from the eastern shores of Lake Washington. Along the way you\'ll be treated to stunning city skylines and mountain views, and a trip to the "Sleepless in Seattle" floating houseboat district.

Since 1963, this cruise has been operating on both salt and fresh water via Seattle\'s famous Hiram Chittenden Locks. Live narration teaches how the Locks function, all while experiencing fantastic city and mountain views from Elliott Bay, Puget Sound, Lake Union and the Lake Washington Ship Canal.

You will also enjoy seeing the unique "Sleepless in Seattle" floating houseboat community. The return journey back to your original departure point is motorcoach.

Tillicum Village

Myth and magic come to life at Tillicum Village, located 8 miles from Seattle\'s waterfront on Blake Island State Park. Here, you have the opportunity to learn about the Native American culture and watch a 30 minute show featuring traditional song and dance. A delicious Chinook Salmon buffet lunch is included on this great day out for the entire family.

The 4-hour adventure to Tillicum Village on Blake Island State Park begins at Pier 55 on Seattle\'s central waterfront. Relax and enjoy the magnificent scenery during the one-hour cruise.

When you arrive at Tillicum Village, make your way up to the longhouse along the pathway strewn with clam shells bleached by the sun. Before you enter the longhouse, take a moment and enjoy an appetizer of clams and nectar. Be sure to crush those empty clam shells when you are finished. They\'re fun to smash and you will help preserve the path!

Inside the longhouse, watch as whole Chinook salmon is cooked over an alder-wood fire on cedar stakes in the traditional Northwest Coast Indian style. Your meal is served buffet-style. As you finish your meal, the lights dim while the myth and magic come to life in the spellbinding performance featuring the Tillicum Village dancers.

The highly acclaimed show leads visitors through an enchanting tour of the customs, beliefs and dances of the Northwest Coast Indians. This 30-minute production, dances are representative of are the myths and legends from various tribes along the Northwest Coast, and are combined with the theatrics of the stage to enhance the ethnic and cultural heritage of an exceptional people.

After the show, you have approximately 30 minutes of free time when you can watch carving demonstrations, browse through the gift gallery featuring artwork of local artisans or stroll along the pleasant beaches and forest trails.

Finally, board the boat and enjoy the relaxing cruise back to Seattle.
