Road: We are 15kms from Alice Springs CBD on the right hand side of the road as you travel towards Alice Springs Airport. The hangar and offices are clearly signposted. Free parking available. Public transport: Catch the Airport Shuttle Bus to Alice Springs Airport and ask them to drop you at Australian National Helicopters facility. They are happy to oblige and will pick you up on the way back. Check their timetables and prices.

Approximately 66 minutes including takeoff and landing. Please allow up to 30 minutes extra.

There is a minimum of 2 passengers. The Bell 47 helicopters carry two passengers and the pilot.

Weight restrictions apply on all flights. (eg combined weights of two passengers not to exceed 185kgs).

Your experience begins with a safety briefing before your flight in the Bell 47 helicopter. This will take approximately five minutes. After seat belts are fastened and you've been fitted with a headset, we take off from Alice Springs airport tracking north-east to Jessie Gap turning west past Emily Gap to overfly the Old Telegraph Station, Alice Springs township passing Heavitree Gap and the Ghan railway line to the left. We continue our flight west to Simpson's Gap and Standly Chasm turning south-east to Honeymoon Gap and the Airport. Your pilot will point out the sights over the intercom on which you can transmit to him and each other.

We usually fly with the doors off, except in the Jetranger, to allow an uninhibited view. Wear warm clothes in the winter. In summer, ensure your clothing will protect you from the sun. A cap or tie-on hat is a good idea also. Sensible footwear is advisable, avoid thongs if possible. As flights are weight restricted, bring only your camera and a hat with you in the helicopter (there is room for a handbag or two). Backpacks etc can be left in our offices in a secure area until your return. Flights may be postponed or cancelled due to unfavourable weather conditions or scheduled maintenance requirements. Call 24 hours before your flight to check on weather conditions. We will then keep you updated if necessary. Postponed or cancelled flights will be rescheduled for a later date. ALL INSURANCES INCLUDED.

This is a half day (4 hour) helicopter tour which can depart early in the morning returning to Alice Springs by midday or in the afternoon returning just before sunset. It is conducted in either a Jetranger or one of our Bell 47 helicopters. Flight times vary depending on the aircraft available on the day with at least one and a half hours spent at Glen Helen Resort. Allow 1 hour extra.

A minimum of 2 passengers can be carried in our Bell 47 helicopter and 3 in a Jetranger.

Weight restrictions apply on all flights. (eg combined weights of two passengers not to exceed 185kgs). Children must be able to fit comfortably and securely into a harness-type seatbelt.

Head west to Simpson's Gap, Standley Chasm and along the Chewing Range to Ormiston Gorge with its towering red walls and sacred waterholes before landing at historic Glen Helen Resort for refreshments and perhaps a swim in the Gorge in summer. Explore the Ochre Pits, Serpentine Gorge and Ellery Creek Big Hole in the Heavitree Range from the air on our return flight. (light refreshments included.

We operate some of the largest balloons in the world. Our largest balloon carries 20 passengers, plus the pilot.

All passengers are briefed and given safety instructions on the day. This includes take off and landing positions. Passengers must be physically able to stand for the duration of the flight. Medical conditions should be advised prior to departure.

We have been a family operated business since 1986. We offer early morning 30 and 60 minute balloon flight tours and packages, with daily departures from Alice Springs. Our tours include return transfers, the balloon flight, a flight certificate and a 4 course chicken and champagne breakfast. Your ballooning adventure begins in the cool pre dawn darkness as you are picked up from your accommodation in Alice Springs. During the 15-minute drive to our desert launch site you will get to know the crew as they make final weather checks and explain the routine for the morning. At the launch site gas burners are used to inflate the balloons. The balloon flight takes place to the south of Alice Springs, between the Alice Springs Airport and The MacDonnell Ranges. Floating gently in the air, you will appreciate the vast remoteness of the Australian outback. Wildlife, particularly big red kangaroos, are seen nearly every day as the balloon crosses spinifex grasses, mulga scrub and cattle stations. After landing you may be involved in assisting the crew or taking photographs as we pack the balloon back into its bag. Our buses will then travel along remote tracks to our bush campsite where you will be served a 3 course chicken and champagne breakfast. Between courses of honey glazed sesame chicken drumsticks, quiches, fruit baskets, cheese, and homemade chocolate cake you will have the opportunity to buy photographs taken earlier in the morning. A large range of Outback Ballooning souvenirs are also available. Vegetarian and other dietary requirements should be notified at the time of booking. Transfers back to your hotel, the airport or another tour, and a commemorative flight certificate completes your morning with Outback Ballooning. The $AUD25.00 Insurance Fee per person, is payable on the morning of the flight and not optional. You can pay by cash or credit card. Clothing: Long pants, sturdy footwear, hat & sunscreen.

This tour duration includes return transfers, safety brief and practice ride and approximately 1 hour on the quad bike including photo opportunities.

Tour group numbers can vary from 1 up to 10 depending on the time of the year.

Children must be over 12 years and 12-16 years must be accompanied by an adult and have parental consent. Quad bike riding is considered a moderate physical activity.

There is time to capture the pristine outback scenery before trail blazing back through the desert bush. You will be picked up from your accommodation and taken to your desert location where you will be given a full safety brief and a practice ride before heading out on your guided tour. You will be given a helmet and the bike has a hand held radio for your safety. You are also provided with bottled water throughout the tour and upon return to the vehicle, the offer of a cold cloth to wipe away some of that dirt you have collected on your exciting desert adventure. Then once the bikes are loaded onto the trailer, you will be returned to your accommodation. Please allow 2 to 2.5 hours for this tour.

Our tours include return transfers from all Alice Springs acommodation and or the airport. Each person is required to fill out and sign a tour agreement agreeing to the terms and conditions and payment requirements. Only 1 person per bike is allowed.
