Day 1 9:00am. Leave Melbourne and travel along the Great Ocean Road, through the quaint coastal resort towns of Lorne, Apollo Bay, as it hugs the coast, then inland through the lush Otways temperate rain forest, to Port Campbell National Park, The 12 Apostles, London Bridge, Loch Ard Gorge. See kangaroos and koalas in their natural habitat.
Overnight destination- "Quamby Homestead" a gracious and historic example of the Victorian era, full of charm and old world hospitality, where fine food and wine and open fires await you. Wake to the sounds of the Australian bush songs and take the opportunity to stroll through the magnificent English style gardens.
Day 2 Travel from "Quamby" via the Grampians Mts. National Park, for bush walking, scenic lookouts, rock climbing, Aboriginal culture, wildflowers (over 850 species in spring) and even see a kangaroo or wallaby, then cross the western plains to the "Coonawarra" premium wine growing district. A tasting at one or two of the many renowned wineries is recommended. Or for the "Sea Lovers" keep following the coast via Port Fairy, Portland and Mt. Gambier, volcanic craters and lakes, Overnight Accom at Chardonnay Lodge, Coonawarra or Ann's Place ,Robe.
Day 3 Travelling to Adelaide via the quaint seaside town of Robe, call into Cape Jaffa
for a bottle of wine to have with a lobster sandwich on the beach of the "Coorong" National
Park on the Younghusband Peninsula, historic Bleasedale winery at Langhorne Creek winery region, crossing "The Murray" Australia's largest river system by ferry at Wellington where the Murray River enters Lake Alexandrina, before emptying into the Southern Ocean. Through the Adelaide Hills, Strathalbyn and Hanhdorf, the quaint early German settlement.
Arriving at your Adelaide Hotel late afternoon.
This tour can combine with Kangaroo Island, Barossa Valley, A Murray River cruise and the
Ghan train to Alice Springs and Uluru.
Special interests can be included in a customised itinerary.
