The Bama Way is an Aboriginal journey throughout Far North Queensland.- a journey along story-lines through coastal mangroves, rich rainforest and hilltop Savannah. The word 'Bama' (pronounced Bumma) is widely used throughout Cape York to mean an Aboriginal person.

Kuku Yalanji Cultural Habitat Tours is taken along a beach where you will get your feet wet. Walker Family-Bloomfield Falls. Includes a short walk on uneven ground. Guurrbi Tours-An estimated 30 minute bush walk on generally easy terrain. Comfortable walking shoes required.

Day 1 - Travel north along one of Australia's most scenic coastal drives to Cooya Beach where it's time to get native, join the Kubirri Warra brothers on one of their beach, mudflat and mangrove walks! Linc and Brandon Walker follow the traditions of their ancestors. Today the brothers teach their guests how to throw a spear, hunt whilst stalking and observing wildlife and country, and how to track coastal resources. We continue north to the World Heritage Listed Daintree National Park. Cross the Daintree River by cable ferry. Enjoy lunch before continuing on the 4WD only Bloomfield Track. Join the Walker Family, a close-knit group of wonderfully warm and friendly people, are members of the Kuku Yalanji tribe who have lived in this area for tens of thousand of years. Their traditional lands are part of the beautiful World Heritage rainforest area, and encompass the Bloomfield Falls, after which Wujal Wujal is named. The Walkers will take you on a bush walk with a difference, This is an opportunity to see the rainforest through their eyes, and to learn about the cultural significance of this area. We stop at the famous Lion's Den Hotel (est. 1875) one of North Queensland's oldest established running bush pubs. We arrive at Cooktown and visit Grassy Hill, 360 degree views. Have your camera ready! Overnight Cooktown Day 2 - Early start this morning as you are collected by Nugal-warra Elder Willie Gordon. Willie takes his guests to his ancestral rock art sites, set in stunning countryside high in the hills above Hope Vale. Here he shares the stories behind the art - stories which can only be told by Elders of the Nugal clan - and explains how the paintings speak of the essence of life and the lores of his people. Enjoy free time to explore Cooktown. This afternoon we return to Cairns via the inland road, Mulligan Highway. Travel will be through a diverse landscape which is the Outback of Far North Queensland.
