The day starts at approx 9.00am and finishes about 6.00pm
Maximum of six people to a vehicle.
The whole day can be enjoyed from the vehicle we do recommend three to four twenty minute walks to get the most out of the day. Please bring suncream, hat, walking shoes and your camera.
After quick introductions we were on our way. Our day starts with the back roads out of St. Helens through some of the early tin mining areas to Pyenghana home of Australia's best traditional cheddar cheese, so after a tasting and a quick look at how it was is all put together, it is down the road to St Columba Falls.
Looking spectacular from the road the rainforest you walk through to get to the falls is really something else. Ralph's falls in the same area gives you a glimpse of the contrasts you will be seeing all day. The next stop is the Blue Tier, where we can have an early lunch. This is an old tin mining area that since being left alone is a classic example of what nature can do.
While the lunch is cooking you can opt to have a walk around this fairyland of mosses, lichens and abandoned machinery from a bygone era. Lunch consists of local cheeses, smoked salmon selected meats all laid out on a platter with local wines.
We then drive through a cross section of Land use brought us to the top end of the Bay of Fires and Eddystone Pt. A stuuning place of clear blue water, white sand and every little beach and cove bordered by these incredible lichen covered granite outcrops. It will feel like you have the whole coast to yourself.
Further down the track at yet again another deserted beach you will have time to sit back with afternoon tea and a chance to talk about the day and the area as a whole.
Beach to Bush adventures are a TCA and Transport Dept. accredited businesses, all staff are qualified and all permits and insurances are in place to operate in all Tasmanian Parks and reserves in the North East. We reccommend sturdy footwear and a warm Jacket. |
