Beginner Surf Course of 5 Days (4 Hour sessions)

Surfing is safe, fun and easy when you learn with Byron Bay's original and best surf tour operator. Coaching since 1991, Terry Hannon and his professional team of instructors guarantee you'll ride a wave for 40 metres on Day 1. Day 2-5 learn to turn, ``take the drop'' and ride waves better & longer.

4 hours each day. We pick you up outside your accommodation and take you on a 20 minute journey to a choice of one of our many remote and pristine locations. After suiting up on Day 1 we have a half hour demo on the sand. Then it's 2 hours of surfing. Days 2-5 you skip the demo and surf for 2.5 hours.

We take a maximum of 14 participants with 2 accredited instructors. We use 1 instructor per 8 participants or less. Our average instructor-to-participant ratio is 1:5.

No previous surfing experience is required, but participants must be able to swim at least 50 metres. Bring: swimmers, towel, sunscreen and drinking water. Surfing is not a recommended activity for sufferers of epilepsy and heart conditions. We take people aged 6 to 60+ with a reasonable level of fitness.

Feel the adrenalin surge like so much blood coursing through your veins ... crack an unwipable smile as you stand up and ride waves for the first time ... immerse yourself in the moment and be at one with your body and nature! Day 1: We teach you the safest and easiest methods for standing up with a demonstration and practise on the beach. Here we teach you safe board handling and good water practise. Then it's into the water for 2 hours where we begin by individually pushing you onto small waves of about 1 foot. Once you're standing up and riding the waves, we'll teach you how to catch your own. Day 2: Skip the demo from here on in and surf each day for 2.5 hours. Today we'll teach you how to turn. Day 3: We'll help you improve your surfing and teach you how to ``take the drop'. Day 4: We'll teach you how to ride bigger waves and improve your turning. Day 5: We'll continue working on improving your surfing. Get longer and better rides and feel the joy!

We will pick you up outside your accommodation in Byron Bay CBD at the advertised session time. We will also pick you up in Lennox Head CBD by special arrangement. Please note that owing to travel time this will be later than the advertised session time. We provide equipment including safe, soft surfboards, long or short wetsuits and rash vests. Participants will be asked to sign a waiver. Spectators are permitted to attend and will be able to ride with us, space permitting on the day. We do not cancel in the rain. We may reschedule in strong wind or stormy conditions.
