Formula Ford Drive Day - SA

Follow in the footsteps of Schumacher, Senna and Mansell by getting behind the wheel of a high performance, full race spec. single seater formula Ford race car for an adrenalin pumping experience. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to go where in the past, only a select few have been.

This activity takes place in Virginia, 30 minutes North of Adelaide

The program runs for 4 hours either in a morning 8am to 12.00pm or afternoon 12:30pm to 4.30pm session. A one hour briefing is held the night before at our race workshop in Beveley, 5mins from the city. The drive day includes time spent helping in the pit lane and at least 25 laps of the circuit.

There will be 2 drivers per car and a total group size of between 10 to 12 people. The days are run at least once a week all year round subject to availability.

You must be over 18 years to participate. No license is necessary, as long as you are competent with a manual gearbox. You will need to sign an indemnity form. You must be over 5 foot tall and below 6 ft 5" to participate and weigh less than 120kgs.

On arrival you will meet with your fellow drivers and instructors and be issued with your helmets and race apparel. Your safety briefing and technical discussion will be held the night before your drive day to enable you to have as much time in the cars as possible. The cars are all state of the art 1600cc Swift and Van Diemen single seat Formula Fords with 115hp 4 cylinder engines. The first part of your session is spent receiving comprehensive tuition as you master the short (club) circuit. A pace car is used to ensure that things are kept under control. You will be encouraged to participate as a team throughout, working together to get the race cars out of the pits and on to the track in the shortest possible time! Watch your confidence grow as you receive tuition from your professional instructors. After two sessions using the pace car it''s time to progress to your two open sessions where the pace car is removed. Throughout the program you will take it in turn behind the wheel and also engage in the various roles of pit crew such as preparing for the pit stop, driver change and push starts. The program runs for 4.5 hours.

Participants meet in Virginia. 30 minutes North of Adelaide. Light refreshment of coffee, tea, juice and biscuits are provided. You are welcome to BYO lunch but no alcohol! This is available on scheduled days throughout the year and run almost weekly with some courses run on weekends.
