Approximately 66 minutes including takeoff and landing. Please allow up to 30 minutes extra.
There is a minimum of 2 passengers. The Bell 47 helicopters carry two passengers and the pilot.
Weight restrictions apply on all flights. (eg combined weights of two passengers not to exceed 185kgs).
Your experience begins with a safety briefing before your flight in the Bell 47 helicopter. This will take approximately five minutes.
After seat belts are fastened and you've been fitted with a headset, we take off from Alice Springs airport tracking north-east to Jessie Gap turning west past Emily Gap to overfly the Old Telegraph Station, Alice Springs township passing Heavitree Gap and the Ghan railway line to the left. We continue our flight west to Simpson's Gap and Standly Chasm turning south-east to Honeymoon Gap and the Airport. Your pilot will point out the sights over the intercom on which you can transmit to him and each other.
We usually fly with the doors off, except in the Jetranger, to allow an uninhibited view. Wear warm clothes in the winter. In summer, ensure your clothing will protect you from the sun. A cap or tie-on hat is a good idea also. Sensible footwear is advisable, avoid thongs if possible.
As flights are weight restricted, bring only your camera and a hat with you in the helicopter (there is room for a handbag or two). Backpacks etc can be left in our offices in a secure area until your return.
Flights may be postponed or cancelled due to unfavourable weather conditions or scheduled maintenance requirements. Call 24 hours before your flight to check on weather conditions. We will then keep you updated if necessary. Postponed or cancelled flights will be rescheduled for a later date. ALL INSURANCES INCLUDED. |
