Helicopter Flight Simpson's Gap - 40 minutes

You can't leave the Alice without seeing this! Just 18km west, this high craggy cleft in the West MacDonnell Ranges is one of our most popular attractions. Fly over Jessie and Emily Gaps, Alice Springs and the historic Telegraph Station

Your flight will depart from Alice Springs Airport. Courtesy transfers are available.

Alice Springs Alice Springs and Central Australia Northern Territory

Approximately 46 minutes including takeoff and landing. Please allow up to 30 minutes extra.

There is a minimum of 2 passengers. The Bell 47 helicopters carry two passengers and the pilot. We usually fly with the doors off, except in the Jetranger, to allow an uninhibited view so remember to wear warm clothes in the winter. Sensible footwear is advisable (avoid thongs).

Weight restrictions apply on all flights. (eg combined weights of two passengers not to exceed 185kgs). Children must be able to fit comfortably and securely into a harness-type seatbelt.

Flights may be postponed or cancelled due to unfavourable weather conditions or scheduled maintenance requirements. Call 24 hours before your flight to check on weather conditions. We will then keep you updated if necessary. Postponed or cancelled flights will be rescheduled for a later date.

Your experience begins with a safety briefing before your flight in our Bell 47 helicopter. This will take approximately five minutes. After seat belts are fastened and you've been fitted with headsets, we take off from Alice Springs airport flying over romantic Honeymoon Gap to Simpson's Gap in the Chewings Range revealing the magnificent MacDonnell Ranges to the east and west. Turning over Simpson's Gap we track east past magestic Mt Gillen and the Heavitree Range to the Overland Telegraph Station built in 1872 to link Darwin to Adelaide via the Overland Telegraph Line. There are plenty of photo opportunities of Alice Springs as we continue on to Emily Gap in the East MacDonnells before landing. Your pilot will point out the sights over the intercom on which you can transmit to him and each other. On return to the airport, you will be escorted from the helicopter to our reception lounge for a cold drink, tea or coffee.

We usually fly with the doors off, except in the Jetranger, to allow an uninhibited view. Wear warm clothes in the winter. In summer, ensure your clothing will protect you from the sun. A cap or tie-on hat is a good idea also. Sensible footwear is advisable, avoid thongs if possible. As flights are weight restricted, bring only your camera and a hat with you in the helicopter (there is room for a handbag or two). Backpacks etc can be left in our offices in a secure area until your return. Flights may be postponed or cancelled due to unfavourable weather conditions or scheduled maintenance requirements. Call 24 hours before your flight to check on weather conditions. We will then keep you updated if necessary. Postponed or cancelled flights will be rescheduled for a later date. ALL INSURANCES INCLUDED.
