Broken Hill Outback NSW / Bourke New South Wales

4 day & 3 night 4 wheel drive tour. Departs Mildura at 8:00 am on Day 1, ends in Broken Hill at 5 pm on Day 4

Our tours are soft adventure and are not designed for highly disable clients. Our vehicles are not equipped for wheel chair access. It is also not recommended that children under the age of 6 travel on our tours.

We leave Mildura and travel to Mungo National Park, this is one of the most fascinating landscapes in Australia with it''s amazing dunes known as the "Walls of China". We spend the morning here and in the late afternoon travel to Menindee via the Darling River at the old river port town of Pooncarrie. From Pooncarrie, we pass through isolated sheep stations nestled in the mallee, native pine and black oak woodlands, but as we travel north the landscape changes dramatically to open salt bush and wide horizons! Dinner and overnight in Menindee at the Burk & Wills Motel. At Kinchega National Park, taking the scenic river drive along the mighty Darling where native bird and animal life abound among the spectacular river red gums. After lunch we visit Menindee, the last stop for Burke and Wills on their fateful journey north. Menindee has a water area seven times greater than Sydney Harbour; a real oasis and haven for wildlife. Dinner and Overnight in Broken Hill. White Cliffs Opal Field will bring home to you the remoteness and isolation of the early Australian pioneers. Mining still continues here but on a much smaller scale than during the first 20 years after opals were discovered in 1887. Here in White Cliffs you will have the opportunity to learn how this unique community lives in their underground houses. We''ll go "fossicking" in the ''Old Field'' where over 50,000 holes have been dug since mining began, and of course visit a local opal show room or two.
