Cruise aboard the luxury cruise vessel M.V Southern Explorer in the remote waterways of Port Davey. During two or three days there are many opportunities to explore this pristine wilderness, visit Aboriginal caves, middens, and old piners settlements, you can even climb a mountain if you want. Tour includes all meals, beverages, scenic flights & accommodation. Departs Dec to April

Cambridge Hobart Tasmania

This tour lasts 3 days/3 nights. The tour departs at 4.00pm and returns 5.30pm on the last day of the tour. Sundays. Available December to April

There is a min of 4 passengers and a maximum of 8. There is a crew of two on board

There is some walking but it is entirely optional. We do take small boats up the rivers so you would need to be able to climb in and out of a small boat. Any serious medical condition we would need to be notified about before departure also any special dietary requirements.

Wilderness is what South West Tasmania is all about, and it is found here in this amazing World Heritage area in its purest form. You're tour with us commences with a scenic flight over the South West that allows you to witness some of the icons of Tasmania's world renowned wilderness. Our flight path takes you past Federation Peak, Precipitous Bluff, The Western Arthur Range and the rugged Southern Coastline that borders the Great Southern Ocean, next stop south is Antarctica. This breathtaking flight is approx.50 minutes in duration. After arrival at Melaleuca, which is located near the shores of Bathurst Harbour, you will be taken to the bird hide to see the Orange Bellied Parrot. This rare and endangered bird has been on the brink of extinction for a number of years, with only around 200 birds left in the wild. Afterwards you will have the opportunity to visit the home of the late Denny King, a renowned naturalist, tin miner and explorer of the South West. Once aboard our luxury cruise vessel M.V.Southern Explorer, you will cruise the protected waterways that make up Port Davey and Bathurst Harbour. During your time with us, you will have the opportunity to take walks in the wilderness, visit Aboriginal caves and middens, stroll amongst ancient Huon pines, sojourn up spectacular rivers, like the Davey and Old Rivers, as well as learn of the flora, fauna and cultural heritage of this lost world. Your experienced crew will give you a comprehensive interpretation of the area as well as prepare delicious cuisine. Each evening the vessel anchors in secluded and protected bays such as Wombat and Schooner Coves or Ila bay and Kings Point. All Walks are graded easy to moderate and are completely optional. Walks include: * Mt Milner 2 hours return * Stephens beach 2 hours return * Balmoral Hill 1 hour return * Settlement Point 20 min return * Mt Rugby 5 hours return On the last day of your tour you will take a scenic flight back to Cambridge Airport arriving at approx. 1700. We do suggest you bring clothing and footwear suitable for a remote and sometimes harsh wilderness, also factor in possible delays due to weather as our itinerary is very much controlled by weather conditions. All cabins have ensuite facilities. All meals & beverages are included
