following afternoon at approximately 4.30pm.
We require a minimum group size of 4 people to operate each expedition
Moderate fitness required. Please bring broad brimmed hat, water bottle, sunscreen, appropriate clothing for the weather, bathers, sandshoes with a white sole (so they don't mark the deck), personal medication.
The overnight sailing experience takes place in The Coorong National Park area, named after an interpretation of the Ngarrindjeri people's name 'kyrangh', is where the Murray River, after two and a half thousand kilometres, finally meets the ocean. It is unique, and beautiful.
We will have an early start, driving from Adelaide to Hindmarsh Island. Here will meet the yachts at the boat ramp, load our gear and set sail! We will sail out towards the Coorong, along Mundoo Channel, reaching the Coorong National Park by mid morning. From here we will sail along the Coorong.
We will stop for lunch, and a swim if it's warm enough! There is an abundance of wildlife in the region - perfect for nature lovers and photographers. We will set up camp on the water's edge, light a campfire (season permitting), and cook up a delicious bush feast. Spend the evening around the camp fire immersed in local Indigenous culture, telling dreaming stories, listening to traditional music and star gazing.
The next morning, take a guided walk at Waterhole Point, via a series of boardwalks, across the dunes of the Younghusb and Peninsula to the Southern Ocean. Along the way learn about bush foods, medicines, middens and the creation stories of the Ngarrindjeri People.
On Ninety Mile beach you can go cockling, explore the dunes, beach comb, play in the surf, or simply go for a relaxing walk along the 'endless' beach. After lunch we will set sail once again and make our way back to Hindmarsh Island. By this time you should be taking the helm with confidence!
We will then drive back to Adelaide via the scenic Adelaide Hills.
All transport, equipment and instruction included. Lunch and dinner on the first day, and Breakfast and lunch on the second day provided. Morning and afternoon tea provided on both days. |
