We operate 7 days a week, subject to weather conditions. You will need
to arrive for check-in at 8am and the tour returns at approximately
12.45pm. Bookings are essential due to the limited number of places
available. We recommend booking at least 4 - 5 days in advance.
Tours operate with a mix of single and double kayaks. (We have 3 single kayaks available). We operate with a maximum of 6 kayaks per tour (including guide) and a maximum of 10 people per tour. We require a minimum of 2 people (plus guide) for the tour to go ahead.
This activity is suitable for intermediate to advanced paddlers. You must be at least 15 years of age to participate (requires an adult to sign a release form). Sea kayaking requires a reasonable level of fitness and takes place in remote and wilderness areas. Bring swimmers, towel, hat, suncream.
You will get picked up from your local bus stop by the Magnetic Island Bus Service for a scenic early morning drive over to Horseshoe Bay and you'll be dropped off across the road from our departure point.
After checking in, you will be given full instruction and a safety brief prior to being kitted out with a life jacket and spray deck.
Next comes the exciting part of launching, where you will be given further instruction once afloat on how to control your current designs storm or squall single sea kayak at sea.
This activity is suitable for intermediate to advanced paddlers.
The guided tour takes over as you follow the rugged coastline of the island around to one of its northern bays, usually the secluded Balding Bay - a bay with no road access or perhaps the picturesque Radical Bay.
After pulling ashore, you will be given a tropical breakfast on the
beach, time for relaxation and learn about the history and ecology of
the island before launching for the return trip.
On the return journey, you get to paddle within metres of huge granite
boulders, search the coastline for its many wading and sea birds,
watch huge birds of prey soar above you, or look and listen for a sea
turtle surfacing to breathe close by.
You will return to Horseshoe Bay at approximately 12.45pm.
Please note: We use the Magnetic Island Bus Service to provide all bus
transfers. The return leg of the transfer is valid any time after the
tour has finished.
Your guide is an Australian Canoeing qualified Advanced Level 3 Sea Kayak Guide with over 20 years experience. A release form must be signed prior to the start of the activity. We provide life jackets and stinger suits during jellyfish season. Island bus transfers are included in the price. Trip destinations and the start point may alter due to weather conditions and the group's ability. In the case of poor weather, we may reschedule your experience for a later date.
