A skateboard lesson lasts 1.5 hours. This includes padding up with
safety gear, a warm up stretch and a couple of drink breaks during the
lesson. All students must bring a drink for their skate lesson.
You and up to 10 other skaters, all of the same level/experience.
Whether you're 5 or 55, you must be in good health for your skating lesson. It is not advised to skate with prior injuries such as an ankle sprain or a recent arm or wrist injury. It is also suggested that students are well rested and have had something to eat and drink before they begin their lesson. As skating improves balance, coordination, fitness and strength, if you fall short in some of these areas, skating will give you a boost!

Safety is our first priority so when you come into the skate area, you are first fitted with knee, elbow and wrist pads as well as a helmet. Once padded up, students are taken through a quick 'skate yoga' session to get the body ready for a skate! Absolute beginners are taken through the steps to understand where to place feet on the skateboard, how to push off and turn.
They then have the chance to go over small 1 ft ramps and through 'tunnels' to practice balance on the board. Beginner-intermediate students progress with more difficult turning practice, more advanced ramp work, ollie workshops and mini rail slides.
Some intermediate students learn how to 'drop in' on a small quarter pipe and practice ollie, rail slide and manual techniques.
Advanced students will learn more advanced tricks on quarter & half pipes as well as more advanced street skating tricks such as kick flips, nose slides, 50/50s & rock to fakies. We encourage skaters to be the best they can be. Skating improves confidence, fitness, strength, coordination and social skills.
All students must sign a waiver form. Students under 18 years of age are required to be signed in by a Parent/Guardian over 18 years. Spectators are allowed outside the skate area. Eating is not allowed in the skate area. Smoking or drinking alchohol is not permitted in the skate area. |
