To the Early French Explorers South West Tasmania was described as The Worlds End, they sensed South of here lay only sea and ice. Today South West Tasmania is still that same remote and pristine wilderness, that Bruny Dentrecasteaux witnessed from his vessel, The Reserche. We offer a flight to the South West Wilderness, a memory that will stay with you forever. This four hour tour takes you to the heart of Tasmania's World renownded wilderness. During the flight you will overfly the city of Hobart, the Huon Valley before entering a 4500 sq km World Heritage listed wilderness. Once within its boundaries you will see some of the Icons of Tasmania's wilderness such as Federation Peak, The Western Arthur Range, precipitous Bluff, Port Davey and Tasmania's rugged South Coast. Tour includes a landing at Melaleuca and a spectacular boat ride to Bathurst Harbour. This protected waterway is a Marine reserve and it bigger than Sydney Harbour, with 800 metre mountains rising up from the sea. There is also an opportunity to see the rare and endangered Orange Bellied Parrots and visit the Home of South West legend the late Deny King. Refreshments are included. Tour departs daily at 9.00am & 1.30pm from Cambridge airport in Hobart.
