Tour Guide meets and greets the group. It is at this time that the guide can get the chance to find out what areas of the aquarium the group are interested in, and thus to an extent personalise the tour for the group and their interests.
The tour begins at the Platypus. The tour then moves onto the Saltwater Crocodile enclosure.
Followed by the Touch Pool. Visitors are then taken Behind the Scenes of the Seal Sanctuary.
The group is then led behind the scenes past the quarantine tanks; where the guide explains what's in the tank.
The group is then taken Behind the Scenes of the Shark Tank; where they will view the infamous shark tunnels from above, and see where the divers get in to feed, what they need to wear whilst feeding, etc. The group is then led down the back stairs and into the main tunnel exhibit area where the guide will give a talk about shark's teeth, and has some teeth on hand for the visitors to touch.
Visitors are then led back up the stairs and behind the scenes past the Filtration Systems; where the guide can explain about the method of filtration used here at Sydney Aquarium, etc.
The group then moves to the area above the Great Barrier Reef Oceanarium; here the guide will give talk about the quarantine system in place for this exhibit. It is here also that visitors will get the chance to be involved in a surface feed from above the Great Barrier Reef Oceanarium, with the guide providing rubber gloves to the visitors, to enable them to feed prawns, mussels, squid, etc to the inhabitants of the Great Barrier Reef Oceanarium.
The group then moves down in the main Great Barrier Reef exhibit; and if time permits they group will be given a talk on corals and given the opportunity to see how live coral is grown and look at the holding and breeding tanks.
